Sublimation printing is a printing technique that involves applying a heat press to a sheet of transfer paper printed with special solidified inks. These solidified inks, once heated, become vaporized into a gas. The gas then permeates the fibers of textiles made from polyester or other plastic materials, making a beautiful graphic.

Printing sublimation is different since it requires steps. The first phase looks like inkjet printing: on the transfer paper, liquid inks are added, drying into a solid. But the second stage is what makes printing by sublimation unique: The solid inks are then vaporized and moved to the poly-material without ever going through their liquid condition again.

  • Sublimation process :

Inside this heated roller, the sublimation process occurs. The strong sublimation ink on the transfer paper becomes so hot from a combination of pressure and heat that it evaporates and diffuses before it even has a chance to melt. The polyester cloth's pores are also opened by this extreme heat, allowing the ink vapor to deep into the fabric.

  • The pores of the cloth snap closed, trapping the ink vapors until the heat has been absorbed. The ink then easily reverts inside the fabric to its solid-state. As a result, with a full colour, high-resolution image, the material has been permanently dyed.

  • The effect is a lasting picture of full colour that will not crack, peel, or wash away from the substrate. The method enables the ink to move from a solid to a gas without changing to liquid, a little like dry ice. The conversion is initiated by heat and pressurized.

  • This quick and effective digital printing method is becoming increasingly popular for smaller batch orders and those designs that rely on the details. Printing sublimation is also known as allowing you to select a template that can go from seam to seam.


The result of this process is a long fabric bolt that is dyed according to the requirements of the predetermined design. Now you can discard the transfer file. To create full garments, the individual pieces of fabric are then cut out and sewn together.
