Although wooden pallets are widely used in many industries to pack and ship commercial products, there are many myths related to industrial wooden pallets. Many people just join the herd of sheep and start complaining about the dramatic increase in carbon footprint. While some will argue about the limitations of its usage. I am dedicated to educating and informing you about what are the different types of absolute myths that are pertaining in the market about the industrial wooden pallets. Let us understand each one of them in brief.

Just because people often interchangeably use skids and pallets, does not mean both of them are the same things in real life. Yes, that is an absolute myth because skids and pallets are two different things. Both of them are different not just in terms of construction style but also in their usage. Skids are nothing but the single deck platforms that stand on the pedestals. These are primarily used as the foundation of any heavy machinery. While on the other hand, Pallets are covered decks with an average of 3-4 stringers on each side. These are used to transport commercial goods because pallets provide better protection and stability to the products placed inside as compared to skids.

Another myth that comes with industrial wooden pallets is that it is perceived as a threat to nature. I am not denying that trees have the most vital role to play when it comes to giving us the fresh air we require to breathe and stay alive. Wooden pallets need trees, but I am saying if you cut down a tree and plant 2 against it then how is it not environment friendly? Trees do take time to grow, but eventually, it will grow over. In addition to that, industrial wooden pallets are 100% reusable and recyclable and almost there to hit the zero-waste benchmark.

One of the other baseless myths is that it fills up the landfill. As per the recent study by Virginia tech, they found that around 95% of wooden palettes are recyclable under proper processing and circumstances. The study also showed that overall wood filled in landfills has decreased dramatically. Wooden palettes can be reused, reworked upon if required, converted into mulch, or can be used as biofuel when they are not in a condition to be used any longer.

Another myth related to industrial wooden pallets is that it is one of the primary causes of deforestation. However, it is absolutely baseless. The fresh pallets definitely use new wood to frame, but all the big manufacturers of industrial wooden palettes use it by continuously reuse it by recycling it to the core. When the wood becomes unrepairable, then it is converted into some other wooden materials like showpieces.
