Some Of The Common Myths About The Concrete Basement Floor

If you like to keep the concrete basement floors warm during winters then you must install radiant heat in-floor. This installation must be done before pouring the concrete slab. One of the best places for installing radiant heat in the basement floor. In-floor radiant heat circulates hot water through the hard tube made up of polyethylene. You can also install in-floor radiant heat after pouring the concrete. Cover the polyethylene tubes using a self-levelling cover.

  • Myth 2: Cracks on the concrete floors are unavoidable:

Cracks on the concrete floors can be levelled with the help of floor staining. Staining can be done for minor cracks. If the cracks are at the major level then you can hide the cracks using polymer-modified overlays. This type of overlays is based on normal cement. You can also try other concrete basement floor decorative treatments like stencilling, staining, and stamping.

  • Myth 3: Concrete flooring is less welcoming when compared with carpet flooring:

Stained concrete floors are more attractive and welcoming when compared with carpet flooring. There is no chemical emission from the decorative concrete but the carpet flooring emits chemicals that are not good for health. If the basement floor is not properly ventilated then it can cause serious problems. Carpets also attract allergic agents and mites and dust. Hardwood flooring is also not suited because it is exposed to humidity and moisture.

  • Myth 4: Modern concrete floors are slippery:

When compared with ceramic tiles and vinyl, modern concrete floors are less slippery. If you use more decorative things and glossy sealer then it will reduce the traction of the concrete floors which will increase the slipperiness of the concrete floors.
