Abstract Art Painting – A Few Things To Know About the Same

An abstract figure painting disrupts the drudgery that you associate with realistic paintings. They reflect the basic philosophy that is a rejection of realistic contention. Realism says that art should always be depicting pragmatism, that it should be practical. In the era that preceded the Second World War painters who dealt with abstract art showed intellectualism and spiritualism in their work. In a way, this was a renunciation of the motto of art in the 20th century – art for art’s sake. They basically did away with realism and brought rationality and spirituality in its stead.

In this day and age with the advent of technology, abstract art such as nude art painting has perhaps become even more significant than what it already is.

Changes in the art form of painting
As an art form painting has undergone a number of changes over the years. This is especially true for the 20th century. This was when there was a transition to abstract painting from figurative painting – in fact, this transition happened to be the artistic hallmark of the era as such. Experts believe that it was Pablo Picasso who brought about this particular shift.

It was Picasso who with George Braque came up with a new way to represent art on paintings. This particular mode of representation is also known as Cubism. In this particular form of art, artists showed objects as they could be seen from various viewpoints. In fact, abstract figure painting can be called a part of this particular movement as well.

1911
This was the year when abstract art painting made further strides. This was when forms such as analytical cubism and synthetic cubism came into being. As the names would suggest these were forms of cubism.

Their main function was to fragment the subject in the painting. In some cases, influences of the same can be seen in nude art painting as well. In analytical cubism, the painters employed crystalline geometry. In synthetic cubism, the subjects got shrunk in size. A major artist of this era was Piet Mondrian. It was his paintings that can be credited with the birth of non-figurative paintings as such. It was he who can be regarded as a pioneer of the cubist painting. In the 20th century, it was a Russian painter named Wassily Kandinsky who became a pioneer of non-figurative art.

Abstract expressionism
The next big name in the context of abstract figure painting is that of Abstract Expressionism. This was a movement that emerged in the 1940s. This was when a theory named Expressionism was used in the context of abstract paintings. As far as contemporary art in countries such as the USA (United States of America) was concerned this art form had some major impact on them. In fact, New York became the very centre of Abstract Expressionism as such. A major name in this regard was Jackson Pollock who used this particular technique in his action paintings. He basically used techniques such as dripping, dropping, smearing, or throwing paint on the canvas for the purpose of creating art.
