Work On The Cause Rather Than The Issue On The Commercial Roller Doors

Ideally, you should inspect the issue in the commercial roller doors and then work towards finding the reason to eliminate the issue right from the source. This will ensure a better and a long standing solution. You will not have to call a professional technician frequently if you have the reasons identified and rectified saving you a lot of money, pain and hassle.

The process to follow

Start with the basics and follow the steps enumerated below:

  • Check the slats whether it is stuck. If it is stuck it may be due to the jamming in the box that holds all the slats in place properly. If there is any slat damaged or broken then it will result in its tangling and the entire assembly of the slats will get affected. Sometimes, you will find the slat worn out and needs repairing or replaced immediately.

  • To expose the reason for damage of the slats, you will have to first locate the screws that cover the box. Remove these screws slowly and carefully and pull the cover open. It is advised that you wear safety glasses while doing this to prevent any injuries due to the spring mechanism inside the box coming off and springing back even.

  • Fit back the broken slats by unrolling these first and identifying the one that is broken. Take out this broken slat and replace it completely with an aluminum or steel slat as the case may be. Make sure that the longitudinal slots are tightly fit with the use of the clips.

  • If there are any loose parts in the commercial roller doors make sure that you reattach these properly by placing the reels to the wheel that may have come off the back. Open the box carefully and inspect all the parts in it. If anything needs to be replaced make sure that you install it perfectly to avoid any further damage.

  • Always follow the instruction manual of the manufacturer properly if you want better results or call a pro for securing the brackets, spring hangers and bearings back into its original positions.

  • When you reattach the prime slat make sure that the main slat is connected to the roller securely. If it is not connected as it should be, check the mounting hardware as well as sign of wear in the slat.

  • If you find that the mounting hardware cannot be fixed tightly to the roller you will need to replace it with a new one following the instruction manual once again during installing it.

After all these DIY methods if you find that the rolling mechanism is still not working properly then there must be some issue deep within the system and will need an expert technician to get it identified and rectified. Since roller shutters move up and down more than a thousand in a year, there can be a lot of problems in it that may not be visible to an inexperienced pair of eyes. These technicians having proper tools and knowledge can eliminate any issue from its source.
