What should a good commercial upright freezer have?

New requirements set by the industries and the customers when it comes to high food quality standards raise the commercial upright freezer quality requirements as well. Regular upright freezers are not enough anymore. A good commercial upright freezer must have a large storage space for food at very low temperatures, smart temperature regulation, and no frost systems, as well as a space-rational, practical shape and size.
New generation upright or vertical freezers are produced with advanced technological solutions and therefore ensure that microcrystals formed during food freezing do not damage the food itself. As a result, the food will keep its vitamins and minerals and, most importantly, its original flavour. Thus, strawberries harvested in the summer will have the same sweet taste in the winter as well, and a quick lunch portion, despite being frozen, will keep its form and scent during the further preparation process.
The modern anti-frost technology uses intense cold air circulation to remove moisture from the freezer. This prevents creating ice on food and on the inside of the appliance. Tiring and time-consuming defrosting is history! This is especially important for commercial freezers, as such defrosting periods significantly affect the business. Furthermore, with this technology, frozen products do not adhere to one another, which increases the visibility and transparency of frozen foods. This is very useful if you have lots of different frozen food products which come in similar packagings.
The interior of the appliance must be carefully designed to allow optimum capacity utilization and storage of as much food as possible. At the same time, outer gabarit of the freezer must not be significantly larger than its inner dimensions. The upgraded cooling system of the new upright freezer models provides excellent conditions for achieving the highest energy-efficiency class. A ++ energy efficiency freezers consume 40% less electricity compared to freezers in A-energy class. These models are more expensive, though. However, a 40% energy saving accounts for a significant savings at the end of the year and the freezer will pay off within several months.
Another important option the appliance should have is the fast freezing or a power freeze program. This function allows very fast, shock-effect food freezing at a temperature of -24 ° C in order to preserve as many nutrients as possible in the foods. After 48 hours, the program is automatically switched off and the freezer compartment returns to the previously set temperature. In commercial use, this function is useful for large quantities of fresh meat which must be stored for a long time.
When choosing commercial freezer of the upright type, pay attention to the appliance materials. A good insulation layer is responsible for ice-free products. This also means that you will have lower energy bills. In summary, a good commercial upright type freezer should have functional, well-used space, good inner/outer dimensions ratio, excellent insulation material, no frost technology, power freeze option, and A++ energy class. LED lights are an important feature too, as they save energy, increase visibility and don’t produce heat.
